    TOYOTA FT86 CONCEPT

After so many rumors I think our prayers have been heard, at least at the design studio of Toyota in France. They designed this successor of the Corolla AE86 that will be debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show. Luckily for us Dino will be covering this show so I'm sure he will get us all the details surrounding this car.

I do know that it will be powered by a 2.0 liter boxer engine that has been developed by Subaru and that it will be rear wheel driven. The engine has been placed as far back as possible.

As you can see there are some styling cues from the old Hachiroku. The object was to make a very light compact sports car because Toyota doesn't have something like that at the moment in their line-up.

It is already being said that the car will be put into production in 2011. I for one can't wait to see this car go into production, finally some good news regarding the car industry.

Nice... it just needs some attention on the interior.

x2. At first I couldn't figure out what was missing- but I don't see a radio or cup holders.

I can do without the cup holders- but no radio would suck.

I'd also add radio controls to the steering wheel. I like that.

Radio looks like the touch panel on the dash next to the clock/HVAC panel. There is an open slot there, I imagine it's a CD slot.

My old 4th gen Prelude had a tiny glovebox only big enough for the registration and insurance papers, didn't really bother me much.

    Works for me.

Is it just me or does it look like it has 4 pedals? Never seen a car with 4 pedals before.

gas, brake, clutch, and dead pedal/foot rest perhaps? anyways looks like another car thats a pain in the ass to work on. at first glance it kind of looks like a streamlined rx8.

    Re: (Obu)

I could see most of the exterior of the car making it to production but that interior will never make it.

The suby boxer motor coded B45 as seen in the GT5 video (youtube FT-86) will most likely be N/A. I have seen rumors for the power output of this motor from 160hp all the way to 250hp. So who knows what it'll be. I am being optimistic and hoping for >200hp.
For being a suby motor i wonder how turbo friendly it'll be after Toyotas tinkering.

definatley cant wait to see the specs for this car. I am really interested in the specs and it could make or break the decision if i want one. LOL

    I thought the same thing. Kinda a cross between a G35 and a 350Z.

Not to fond of the rear, but the front is very Need for Speedish.

This may be an option for me, unless its just plain 2.0L, that would blow.
